A few years back , either in the Patreon videos or You Tube videos Mr. C has a video on redoing an old receiver and talked about a certain liquid that comes in a bottle to be used on the Wafer switches ….. Does anyone remember the liquid or the video ?
Thanks in advance for the information …..
@microns2026 i have to make a Warning/Headsup that is being noted by other restorers when using Deoxit on the phenolic/bakelite type wafer switches used in many old radio receiver systems switching any sort of high voltages. It’s that once the fluid is in there it makes things conductive enough to cause other issues & you can even see the spark leaping to ground! Mr C. did a really indepth video on cleaning rotary switches which from memory the fluid was Contact Cleaner however i cannot at this time locate the particular video! For interest reasons only there’s a YT vid with the trouble that Deoxit can cause in a Halicrafters SX42… (on YT search John Klienbauer “It’s a Kunker! Part 6 & 7 Final”?
@microns2026 Thank you very much …. I don’t use the D series , I use the F series , I have some other cleaners for contacts such as J connectors and Deutsch style plugs and connectors that cost too much ….
@peteb2 Thank you very much for your info , I will look that up ….. BTW I use F series DeoxIT , that video you spoke of with Mr. C going in depth is the one I am looking for …..
