What size diode and capacitor do you recommend for the 12vdc Bosch style automotive relay?

A 1N4007 is usually fine. If the relay is in an automotive setting, IE: Connected to an ECU, make sure the diode is the right way around or you will damage your computer. In any case, if the diode is the wrong way, it will look like a short and damage what is controlling it.

@mrcarlsonslab you mentioned also using a capacitor, whic one do you recommend for this circuit? NC0 perhaps?
