Can someone please tell me the ultra probe demodulator amplifier has 2 smd electrolytic capacitors one is 3300uf 25v is this value correct because in the United Kingdom I’m struggling to find one without spending a fortune on the amounts you can get or the posted as I only need about 10? I’ve already built the probe and now looking at building the amp. Also is there a way of testing the probe without the demodulator amp?
Hi, those parts are (no doubt correct) fairly expensive but why not place a bigger order of various parts for your other on-going projects with Mouser.com for instance or Farnell (just enough to reach the free postage threshold) and add those caps to that order too. It would be is the cheapest method unless you can find them as separate items on e-Bay or elsewhere but i highly doubt it. Also the probe can be tested without the base unit as long as you understand what the voltage rails needed and the switching procedure that needs to be applied to it in order to test the probe to its full amplification but my advice is to build the original De-modulator/amplifier/base unit. it is made for it. PS: in order to test the probe separately you would still need a form of a small audio amplifier. Good luck.
