WOW…That is a great looking one, and nicely done.
Thank you for sharing 🤩

Thanks, I bought the black powder coated version of the project box then did the panel in CAD and cut it out with my little CNC mill.
@indirtwetrust Well that CNC machine certainly does a fantastic job. I wonder what type of CNC you have. Is it a type in current production that can be purchased or…perhaps a DIY project of yours ? I’m kind of curious. 🤪
The CNC is a Makera Carvera. It was a Kickstarter that I backed several years ago. I hadn’t used it until the artwork for this project forced me to learn the CAD/CAM software enough to make it. They are still in production and they just came out with a less expensive model, the Carvera Air.
Was I supposed to post my pictures in a new thread? I didn’t mean to hi-jack someone else’s post. I thought this thread was for all the Ultra Probe projects but looking around a bit it seems like everyone is making their own.
@indirtwetrust First, I also love your version! Your post isn’t considered hi-jacking, just a contribution. You can absolutely make one on that CNC, I have a 3D printer and the mill would be the perfect compliment to that.
Another question, did you use the mill to etch the text into the powder coat? It looks really clean.
Radios + Tubes + Scopes + Cars= Nothing better!
@radtekman yes it’s all cut on the mill. The text is cut with a 1/32” ball end mill with a trace operation on an outline type font. I had intended to do the text with a laser engraver (super simple) but wasn’t happy at all with the way it looked. Won’t cut through the powder coat.
@indirtwetrust I also forgot to mention that was an idea before the mill. A stronger laser would help with that. Did you try running it multiple times in the same spot? Just a thought that you might get through more layers that way without upping the power.
Radios + Tubes + Scopes + Cars= Nothing better!
