Hi friends!
I built the ultra probe a few weeks ago and it works great. I put it into an old Eico capacitor decade box. One thing that was not clear in the documents was how the gain switch, which I see in MC’s photos, should be connected in the circuit. As it is, even when the gain vr is turned down, the gain is still very high. Can you, dear reader, provide some illumination?
@ Bubbatech for clarity (on Patreon) go to Video nr 188 (Completed Ultra Probe Assembly Instructions!) and at 7:42 Timestaps MCL presents a snapshot picture of all the pre-wired items for the front panel (Pots, switches, LEDs, etc) before the PCB was fitted in place. Now looking closely at that picture one can see that the gain switch is the only item wired using “yellow” insulated wires. (Easy to spot). So, knowing that just simply follow the video to see where the yellow wire is soldered on the PCB. Job done. 😉
