There are a number of Capacitor Testers released by Mr Carlson and just want to make sure I’m building the appropriate one. I don’t want to watch the many videos again to understand which is the best one for my needs.
I work primarily with Tube gear and reel-to-reel machines and need to check the leakiness of a variety of large and small valued capacitors (some with high voltage ratings).
Is the “SIFT” tester the best one to build or one of the others?
Thanks in advance.
I just realized that the SIFT tester is for Foil testing.
I am interested in leakage testing and want to make I am building one that is not limited to small value caps.
@squasher What is your experience with building such device? Fact of the matter is any of the leakage testers would do what you need, just a matter of what you want. The earliest version would be more simple to build while the later versions would give you more testing “range” as in sensitivity.
Radios + Tubes + Scopes + Cars= Nothing better!
