Blast from the past. Older radios getting new life?

Cool to see some of the radios that I worked on in the 80’s being shown on Mr. Carlson’s channel. Specifically the R-390. First radio I worked on when I got to my first ship. Relatively easy to work on. Also worked on the AN/WRR-3B at that time. And the R-1051B.

A 390 is on my list to add on my receiver bench. Still working on going through them all but there is Hammarlunds and a Gonset so far. Also need to get an antenna setup better. The to do list never ends!

Radios + Tubes + Scopes + Cars= Nothing better!

I liked working on those beasts because they were mostly discrete components. Tubes, caps, resistors, etc… No ic’s to be found πŸ™‚

@gbfreeman123 As are all of my radios! No modern stuff in my collection, test equipment included aside from a few newer pieces (2000s at the latest). Several thousand tubes inhabit my “area”, not a nice looking lab yet.
