Mr Carlson, I love your videos! I know you have done alignment videos but would you consider doing one for total newbie. I know how to do one with vtvm but would like to try using my oscilloscope with fft to do one. I have read about blocking the avc but don’t completely understand how. Some say jumping it others say use a 9volt battery? I have read the “Sylvania how to service radios with an Oscilloscope. “
This book has great information but a video would really help to clarify. Please consider.
Thanks for all your hard work , enjoy your channel greatly.
There are a number of videos available on this subject as you know. I highly recommend going back through and revisiting videos to get a refresher. There are so many videos and little pieces of information everywhere which can be easily overlooked. If you are not a Patreon member I also recommend joining as it provides that much more.
As far as the scope, using that would be the same process as the VTVM (my preference). You should not have to modify or change the device for an alignment as it defeats the alignment. The biggest thing is a “loose” coupling with light signal. The goal is to not shove a huge signal in as that would create higher AVC voltage (again defeats the alignment). This would be okay in normal use with a high power station nearby, but you do not want to baseline the radio with that condition.
Additionally, you won’t hear much from Mr. C here. Yes he is around, but generally leaves posting to the members. It would be difficult keeping up with everything else and regularly contributing here (it is always welcome)!
Radios + Tubes + Scopes + Cars= Nothing better!
