Starting Restoration on Air Chief # 4-A-37

Upon opening the chassis, several loose parts were noted. They appear to have dropped out of the IF trimmer. 3 cylinders and a wax plug. Two of the cylinders are of ferrite material and the other is wood. The trimmer has two adjustment screws. I am assuming the two ferrites are separated by the wood. Any knowledge in this area would be much appreciated!

Sounds like the slugs for the coils, look for empty holes. Generally there is a coil on top with one slug and a coil on the bottom with a slug. The wood shouldn’t make a difference as long as they aren’t touching. Wax is usually used for retaining the adjustments after they are set.

Sounds like someone was busy with their screwdriver.

@radtekman OK I have reinserted the slugs back into the IF trimmer. The only way they fit was to separate the two ferrites with the wood. The wax plug only keeps the slugs from falling out and does not retain any adjustments. I used a little glue to keep the wax plug in place. I am 99% confident that I have the correct configuration of the trimmer. Thanks for your input.
