A while ago I built an MP3 stereo with a 2N3019-4033-2219A AB amp, which is nice but I really want to build something similar with a tube amp. I’ve come up with the ingredients and I think this would work nicely for around a 10 W output, more would be nice, a little less fine as well. I haven’t decided on the speakers yet or really about the design of the enclosure. That is probably going to be maple ply and stainless as I can get remnants and scrap for free. I was thinking to use 2 x 2 EL83/6CK6 and 2 EFC802/6JW8 with 1 EZ81/6CA4. For the transformers I think the 370 FX and 2 x 125 E are pretty much spot on. Any suggestions or advice would be welcome (or just tell me that I’m really making a silly mistake here….) but just to be sure, I have the transformers and I can get those tubes (good NOS) for very little, so I know there are probably nicer options but these tubes are very much within my means and easy enough to find. I hope to build a “nice” amp, not something very high end or super audiophile and mostly just to prove to myself I can do that from the ground up. It will be all point to point of course and “proper”.
