@wg5x-radio Personally, I tried using the Sonic Pad with the Ender V3 Neo (V)2 and bricked a 4.2.7 board. When I replaced the board it started working (without Sonic Pad). Might try again in the future, but documentation wasn’t very good (or clear).
I’ve got 2 TronXY printers. Started with the XY-2 that I got off Amazon cheap when they were being discontinued. Love that little printer. TronXY contacted me when they were rolling out their Gemini S IDEX printer and offered me a really good deal if I did a review on Amazon. Great machine, but doesn’t allow for an autoleveler. I don’t use the glass print surface, don’t care for them, instead use a flexible metal print surface.
Currently have 4 printers (1 working, two needing work, 1 waiting on a new heat bed due to recall). Really starting to get the itch for a large form factor like the Elegoo 4 or one like that. Will need to get rid of at least one before I can do that, though. π
What got you folks into 3D printing? For me, it was all about making custom enclosures. I have to build all sorts of custom test jigs for our lab and this meant having a wide array of project boxes, standoffs, etc etc sitting around and having to bodge enclosures together. I honestly got into printing primarily to make fit-for-purpose enclosures.
(That being said, I am terribleΒ at CAD or any sort of 3D design really… my brain just doesn’t work that way, so I tend to “borrow” and modify enclosures others have been kind enough to design and release.)
@tychosis Where I work has a additive manufacturing division so I got exposed to what was possible with 3d printers. I saw a cheap monoprice printer on sale and pulled the trigger. Started printing little trinkets and then the printer broke. I went to youtube to see how to fix it and saw more and more possibilities for the area. I got better equipment and eventually started printing items around the house. If I see a problem now I look at it from what can I print to fix it. And I barely dabble in fusion 360. Lots of borrowing and remixing. Nothing wrong with that. In fact I have reached out to a few creators to ask if I can use their items and they are normally flattered that you actually asked.
