MCL talk about what he uses for his capistor tester.

Over the years I have collected a lot of free circuit boards and I am wondering to use or not.

I am looking for por’s and con’s

When doing my projects, I use whatever I have at hand. I (myself) never ever pick and choose one PCB over the other. And so far, all of them worked for me. Of course the cap Leakage tester as being a sort of : “One of a kind” and dealing with the actual leakage itself  and that make’s it special therefore MCL would recommend a certain kind of  Circuit Board and I totally agree with that. Having said that, I myself have simply used what I had at that time and it worked no problem there. One very important point here is: what I’ve observed with the Cap Leakage Tester and this strongly confirms what MCL already said in his videos is that any “Minute Dirt” IE: flux residue etc would strongly affect and perhaps even “impede” the final functionality and prevent you from being able to do the required calibration steps. So the bottom line here is that, everything needs to be spotless clean. Look at the board under the microscope and you shouldn’t be able to see any residue whatsoever!. It has to be like: Hospital Clean! And I really mean that. This is one crucial detail that a lot of people tend to ignore. It makes a massive difference! The cleaning procedure is also described there. And…no “greasy hands” when doing the calibration or touching any parts/components on that board. The board is best  placed on a well insulated and 100% dry mat. But is all in the video. So, every single “minute” detail is important in order to succeed. After all this is the most sensitive and finicky piece of equipment MCL has presented (so far!)

@ovi4 Thank you, I did ordered some MG Chemicals # 555 Double Sided Copper Clad Board off Ebay and hope I did not get scammed.

Not cheap, but now have it.

I really do not know what I have for boards I have collected over the years that people just gave to me.

What I was looking to see if there could be any problem with the unknown boards I have on hand.
