Just a quick question regarding what an “ad” constitutes. Promotion of commercial enterprises would be self evident.
However, are we allowed to mention vendors or distributors that have certain parts pertinent to the thread, or even link to the parts on the store-pages themselves?
Just wanted to ask before I inadvertantly run afoul of any rules 🙂
Thanks,
Sven
Mentioning a parts supplier that has to do with a project you are building is ok. Businesses are not allowed to advertize their companies here without permission. If it’s a grey area, I will let you know 👍
Thank you for the question and the clarification. I was wondering the same thing. I have spent the last few weeks trying to find reliable sources of the Jieili-based Bluetooth receiver boards (such as the ones that Paul showed on the Patreon “coming in 2024” video). While the boards themselves are easy to find, finding ones that do not have an awful, low-quality voice sample for the various connect/disconnect prompts can be a lot harder. I’ve managed to source some now, after 3 failed attempts, but I was considering asking whether anyone had a cast-iron source but was then worried that I might be baiting them into rule violation.
There is a YouTube channel by a fellow named Manuel Caldeira where he restores old radios amongst other endeavours. He has sourced Bluetooth receivers to include in his restorations, and has designed an interface board for incorporating the receivers into old radios. The channel is called “Electronics Old and New.” I believe that he has mentioned Mr.Carlson’s Lab in his videos, also.
@soundguy It would be nice to see Mr. Carlson and Mr. Caldeira get together for a “Live Chat” session. They could talk about their backgrounds and love of electronics. They are both very enthusiastic about what they work on.

I have been sitting on the fence what to post and not to post like me getting a better deal on some project boxed from Hawk Electronics, Inc.
This will help me and others finding parts, thank you!
I see you do not want venders taking over the forum for their business.
