I do not recall one for a capacitors, but he did make one where he cut a vibrator with a pipe cutter.

Hmm my first post.
Many years ago for my first valve radio restoration I hollowed out all the wax capacitors.
Each one I held with pliers an used a heat gun to melt off the wax, then a drill and long nose pliers to remove the internals.
Each one then had an appropriate poly cap installed and using a lump of beeswax and a small gas torch rewaxed each cap.
I have done many since and not restuffed a single cap, what a totally tedious exercise.
As for aluminium can (or aluminum if you are that way inclined) I have done a few of these.
One I spent an age folding back the folded edge and pulled out the internals. After populating it with new electrolytics I spent a ridiculous amount of time folding it back. It worked but took forever.
Another one I had was sealed with tar. I used a blow lamp to melt out the internals. I do not remember how I resealed that one. Probably for the best. How did I ever find the time?
