SMD/PCB vs Thru hole/turret

Since working on the Carlson Ultra Probe, it is opening the world of SMD and traces (which seems to be much less expensive).  Could you post a video of capabilities & limits of traces vs wires?  After working with wires (24-16 ga, and different coatings)for the last 30 years, I’m nervous about any high voltage or amperage going through a trace.  All comments welcome.

Hi, Saturn PCB Toolkit is a worthwhile installation for sizing outer/inner tracks properly according to every aspect you can think of i.e. current, temperature etc.

Best of luck!

@scott Welcome, I would say experiment with it! Voltage I would expect any issues with adequate spacing and maybe a coating on top. Current testing could be done with a variable supply and different trace widths. Monitoring temperature will give an idea how much current would be acceptable for a given trace area.

Radios + Tubes + Scopes + Cars= Nothing better!
