Is there a rule of thumb to determine the capacitance value for a saftey capacitor?

This would be installed in any number of antique tube receiving equipment.

@longwaverider Welcome, I would say this is subjective to what kind of circuit it is going in and the frequency you are trying to keep off the line (assuming this is for across the line RF bypass). Most commonly I would say 0.01uf to 0.001uf is typical for radios and what not.

Radios + Tubes + Scopes + Cars= Nothing better!
