Re-Post of my finished Carlson Ultra Probe

I pulled my original picture link as I wasn’t happy with the knobs I chose.

So since MR C did his final video on the UP I liked his selection of knob colour so I copied his.

In fact my UP looks very much like his except for 4 improvements on the design which makes mine way cooler. ;-))

Very nice, Chris ! I would be interested to hear about the difficulties you encountered while soldering and assembling, and the solutions you adopted.

@paulvo Thanks, No difficulties soldering. Just a lack of organization with assembly. I am about to build a second one and will follow Mr C’s assembly order by placing the pots, LEDs and connectors into the box before wiring in the completed PCB assy. Thats all. Oh and finding the time to do it all.

What size of speaker did you use, I need to order one for my project?

I still need to figure what to use for a grill and I have not started any drilling of my project box yet.

Yes, I am slow and still putting parts on my PCB.

I am finding it is easier on me by taking my time to get it right and enjoying each step.

@larry_n7luf I’m just starting out and trying to obtain parts, etc. I have been exposed to vintage tube radios as an only source of entertainment at my grandparents farm. I’m thinking about using vintage speaker cloth from a 1938 radio have and some vintage Bakelite knobs if I can find the right size. The theme is vintage radio look for a modern piece of equipment.

@larry_n7luf I think Paul said he used a 3″ speaker in one of the videos. 8 ohms and 1-3 watts should work fine.

@larry_n7luf Larry, I used a 3″ speaker from Digikey. I bought a 6″ metal speaker grill from Amazon and cut it down to about 4-5″ square, flattened it , then painted it metallic black. Keep at it Larry.

I got an Adafruit Speaker – 3″ Diameter – 8 Ohm 1 Watt from Amazon, thank you.

Not to get the hole cut out of the box.
