So I am getting my hands on a old, unused, Cabletest Inc, Safe System One. One problem, I can’t find a trace of data on this thing on the internet, seems like it might just predate the internet I guess. Anyway, I was told it’s a ground fault tester, I thought it seems to be an insulation breakdown tester. The guys I am getting it from said they originally thought they needed it for doing their in house UL certification, though they never did use it by the looks of it. Anyway It says it generates voltages up to 2.5kv So my immediate question is can I have fun with this. Like, wondering if I could use it as a kind of tesla coil supply or something. I am also wondering if anyone has any further information on this thing to help me out. Again, no signs of a manual or let alone a pinout to the huge 30 something pin round connector on the back(only connection on back besides twist lock power inlet).
Not sure how to share pictures here but I have a few so far before I pick it up. There are no pictures that come up when I google this thing.
There are posts about adding pictures, basically you just have to upload them to a host site then link it here. As far as your device, if it is in fact used for such testing, I doubt it would supply the current associated with stated fun projects so it may not pan out for that use. Anything is possible with enough work though.
