Has anyone had an issue with a Weston 981 not properly testing 12ax7 tubes. My tester works well with many other tubes especially anything using the 8 pin tube socket but doesn’t do well with the 12ax7 tubes. They all test very low and I know the tubes are fine. Some even brand new. My heathkit IT-17 does the same thing and as I understand they are very similar in their topology. Is there a fix? Are my listed settings wrong? Any help would be appreciated.
Welcome, hard to say but I doubt both testers have incorrect data. I don’t have either so I can’t give it a try. Worst case, you can adjust the settings to give a normal reading and use it as a comparison to other tubes instead of a spec baseline. Find a similar tube type that reads good and compare the settings?
