I was following along on the Delco alignment procedure and got to sticking point. I noticed you output a micro Voltage with your Polarad. How did you come to this figure, i think it was 2 microVolts. I am using a HP 33120a signal generator. It can only go down to around 18mV. Can I still use my signal generator?
The 33120A is apparently a function or waveform generator, which is different to an RF-generator. An RF-or signal generator typically is provided with an extensive attenuator section at the output, and a low noise floor required for microvolt-level output.

Get a selection of 10dB and 20dB attenuators and add one or more to the output of your signal generator.
Keep in mind the generator will need to have a modulated signal ability. A standard signal/function generator will not be ideal or useable in most cases. A modulated tone will be inserted on top of the carrier frequency so you can hear it through the receiver and align accordingly. Tube generators aren’t the most accurate (unless you have Mr. C’s 200C above) but they are relatively easy to come by and cheaper. My generator is an HP 8657A but most hobbyist won’t have that level of equipment, just something you can reference from.
Additionally, the stronger signal can be overcome by a looser coupling. More distance between the antenna and the signal will act as an attenuator. Again, not ideal but possible.
