@larry_n7luf I’ve watched and followed Paul for years as well and it’s not until now I’ve started to slowly build up a little lab to be able to build things. So I think we’re kind of in the same boat! 🙂 It’s a fun journey!
I am almost 80 years of age, and hands/eyes are not that good anymore, but have mastered some SMD soldering, but have nothing made yet.
I just did my first transfer to PCB yesterday and getting ready to etch it.
It is not as hard as I was thinking 😮

That’s awesome! I’m still intimidated by SMD’s. A lot.
@mandelstam I am playing how to upload a picture of my first board picture.

If you open your image in imgur you should get a side bar on the right with different links. Copy the “Direct Link” one and just paste it into the forum post. To show up in the forum it needs to have the file extension in the link (.jpg, .png, etc)

It finally works Larry. This might actually be the quickest and efficient method (so far). 👍 So, big tnx. to “Mandelstam” for sharing the idea.
@ovi4 I am not sure what the AD free and other stuff they have.
Also not to post to their community or not.
I wonder what the limits and how they earn an income.
Also the use of the uploaded picture by them.

Well, as a general rule of thumb, and in line with today’s internet trend in the world, a free service can only earn money in 2 ways: 1. with advertising and 2. selling your personal data to other big advertisers. Er, … but this is the norm these days (nothing new under the sun here). Unfortunately, none of us (the internet consumers) are immune nor can escape from it. Microsoft, Google, Apple, Samsung, Facebook, LinkedIn, and most Mail Providers, in fact most big sites, they all sell your data one way or another, weather they openly admit it or not. And this is a well known fact ! Sad…really what today’s world has become.
I use the gayzo service (www.gyazo.com). There is a free tier and a paid tier (I use it for all manner of things, so I have paid the relatively small fee, but the free tier should be good enough for most, I would think). Gyazo works in a number of ways; there is a desktop screenshot app that allows you to take a quick snapshot by drawing a rectangle on the screen. You can also upload images from your desktop to it directly and they are then hosted. Finally, there is an Android and Apple app that allows you to send images and screenshots from your phone/tablet to the service as well. I use that all the time as a simple way to get info back and forth.
All the links are independent and anonymous, this means that people cannot find other screenshots that you have taken just by chopping up the URL or doing some datamining. Moreover, they are not published anywhere so nobody can stumble upon them without having the explicit link that you share.
