I’m working on Mr Carlson’s Curve tracer at the minute, I’ve spent time to design my own board its 60mm x 60mm. It’s all done but then i thought, would this be alright with Mr Carlson sending basically his work off to have the board manufactured. I won’t be selling or manufacturing for other people, it’s for myself, it’s a one-off build for my personal workshop. I’m not into upsetting people like Mr Carlson any help or guidance with this please.

Not speaking for Paul Carlson, I have seen him say no to sending his stuff out, as there are ones that would steal his Ideas like the China knockoffs.
He works very hard to keep his stuff to himself and his Patreon members.
I believe he has sued before and I believe he won.

Hi Phil.
Larry is correct. As mentioned on all the attached documents on Patreon, they are to remain on Patreon. Exporting any info from Patreon, or intellectual property from Patreon to an external PCB house, (or any other place) is not allowed. Leaks happen, and design theft is a real thing! Larry is also correct about settlement. On another note: Making the PCB’s is a crucial part of the courses provided, and there are many tutorials on Mr Carlson’s Lab Patreon that make the process very easy.
@mrcarlsonslab ok i understand.
I thought as theirs no info on the files in respect to components id just board numbers i.e, R1,C3,U2 and so on, I really didn’t see this as being a problem. I had to stop producing boards in house some time back over health and environment concerns, :-), i used to do it daily. I’m not new to electronics, Just a self-employed shop/workshops owner now retired but spent over 40 years in the rework industry, manufacturing and producing many of my own designs, I didn’t see any point in re invent in the wheel, the curve tracer you produced on the Patreon appears to be perfect for my needs, I’m just not in any kind of position where I can produce my own boards, yes I know their simple and straightforward, it’s just something I’m not wanting to do right now. so out of respect I will fold this project. I really do appreciate all your work and your time getting back to me thank you.

One other way of doing it, and is pretty fast too, is to do it on a perf-board using thru-hole components only and installing sockets for the IC’s. That way…no PCB fabrication is required. Job done!. Many people (in the past) have chosen this “route” and with perfectly good results. After all the circuit is not very complex and fairly easy to follow. …..Just another option…
@ovi4 i did use that in the past but i really don’t like the way the projects look when complete, i seem to lose interest as my project progresses. Thanks for the input, I’ve spent the last very long days/nights to design my own from open source information, Tested it on breadboard, designed the board and have sent the files off to board manufacturers. I do say i like the results of the Mr Carlsons lab Curve tracer and i would prefer to have built his version. i have a very bad problem with things I do being and looking like factory built. Having something that looks sketchy (to me) in my arsenal is something i struggle with, this is my problem and not a dig or any reflection on anyone else’s work.
Just out of interest how would one show their work on/in this forum? I don’t see anyway of posting photos.
Yours. Phil-Radford.
Well, of course, the choice regarding the PCB is up to you. Now regarding posting pictures here in short you’ll need to use a cloud-based service to upload your picture there first and then post a link that leads to it (when you post your comment). Now, having said that it seems that there are certain services out there (such as imgur.com) that work in such a way that when posting that link in your comment the picture will already be visible within your comment for everybody to look at so, no clickable links to get you re-directed to the cloud site needed. There is a page/forum in here that demonstrates how is done: https://mrcarlsonslab.com/community/general-chat/image-hosting-services/paged/2/#post-464
