Have you ever considered doing a video on properly aligning the Yaesu Ft101 series of HF radios? I bought one after the last 140 mph hurricane here in South West Louisiana. My Yaesu ft 101ee was in great shape and came with the service manual, but I have hesitated doing a full alignment because I’m intimidated and have no confidence in my abilities at this time. I have found several techs that offer bits and pieces videos but no one place that shows a beginning and end alignment. If this is not possible, do you know of a video series that can show a newbie like me? 73 KG5UWJ
I too wouldn’t mind a bit of hand holding as I’d tip toe through the IFs and filters to freshen up my FT101ZD units. They work well enough but no doubt that their age requires they can be tuned a bit. I have accumulated test generators, HI Impedance meters, hi speed scopes, etc. and too have service manuals. But even with all this equipment and being retired from high tech electronics career I’m timid to approach such an endeavor without Mr. Carlesons tips and circuit pointing. How about Sir….you think you could help us get our feet wet?
I have an FT-101E I purchased back in high school. I know it would be better to restore before powering up as some parts are hard to find for it. Watched many videos on alignment but not much out there for a complete alignment and test equipment needed. I would like to add my interest in seeing a video because I know it will be well worth watching from an expert.
