You probably forgot to attach the pictures since there are no pictures to be seen. In case you are suspecting the markings “JA8R” are fake I can assure you they are not. This is how the CIP is officially marked by Texas Instruments. To confirm what I’m saying look @ Data Sheet: SCDS174D – AUGUST 2004 REVISED NOVEMBER 2015. On the “Addendum Page-1” (that is page 21) there’s a Package Information Table that also contains the markings you should find on the CIP. However, keep in mind that there is a TS5A3159A version of the same CIP that might have “slightly different” specs and markings on it as a different Data Sheet is used for that CIP as well.

@jpklitz Use either IMGUR service to upload your picture there and share a so-called ” direct link” This way the actual picture would appear on your post instead of just the link. Or Google Photos service and share a public link of those pictures with us. Both options worked for me (so far) For instructions on how to use IMGUR there is a topic called “Image Hosting Services” (on this website) started by the user ” Mandelstam”. On page 2 of the topic he posted an image pointing to the ” direct link” you’ll want to use, here is the link to it: https://mrcarlsonslab.com/community/general-chat/image-hosting-services/paged/2/

This is a maddening situation. I can tollerate my components being manufactured overseas. Heck, when I talked to the electrician wiring up our off-grid home… he told me that he simply cannot afford to use locally made components. As long as they’re legitimately UL-listed (or CSA-stamped), I will put up with it. And yes, I do look up the UL-code to ensure its a legitimate item. Buyer beware, no? 🙁
